I have always been an active person. Growing up I rode my bike and ran. As I got older, that progressed into taking Kenpo Karate, strength training, Century cycling, half marathons and a few figure competitions. Joining the YMCA has taken me from a group exercise instructor, which I started in 2000, to a personal trainer and now a certified nutrition consultant.
I worked as a certified rehabilitation home health aide for 10 years, for an agency and privately. My job was to help patients exercise so that they may be independent again after a hip or knee replacement - or whatever they may be recovering from. Working in this position helped me realize what I wanted to do for myself and for others.
Helping others become active or become stronger, helping others learn how to take care of themselves physically and nutritionally is one of the reasons why I'm here.
