Aqua Tai Chi: Aqua Tai Chi is a variation on the ancient health practice from China that incorporates deep abdominal breathing with very slow meditative movements held in the water. Benefits include reduced stress, strengthened immune function, increased range of motion and stability, as well as an improved sense of well-being.

Arthritis Aqua Plus: Designed for anyone with arthritis or similar conditions. Participants reduce stiffness and improve range of motion, muscle strength and endurance while supported with the water's buoyancy.

Range of Motion Aqua: This class is designed to improve flexibility, range of motion, strength, muscle tone and cardiovascular endurance while using the resistance of the water to cushion the feet, knees and back. Exercises are performed to lively, motivating music and are effective and easy to follow.

HIT the Water: This is a high-energy aqua workout, targeting all the major muscles using the water’s resistance to challenge all levels. This class includes cardio and muscle conditioning using water equipment such as noodles and aqua buoys. Methods of interval training focuses primarily on cardio and strength. It begins with a warm-up then moves to a power aqua endurance and interval training for 30-40 minutes, followed by strength and core exercises, finishing with a relaxing cooldown. This is a great non-impact workout that can be done in deep or shallow water. All skill levels welcome.

Aqua Abs: This deep water class is designed to tighten & tone the core muscles. This 30-minute workout focuses on the abs & lower back. This is a great way to do abdominal exercises without extra stress on your body & joints.

Aqua Barre: A medium-intensity, challenging workout that will get your heart rate up and tone and tighten all the right areas. Utilizing the side of the pool like a ballet barre, this class incorporates isometric movements, Pilates, yoga, cardio and resistance training while still being low impact on bones and joints. All levels are welcome.

*Not all water exercise classes are taught at every YMCA of Greater Brandywine location. Please check the schedule to see when each class is offered and at which location.
