All workouts are based on functional movements and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. These are the core movements of life. They move the largest loads the longest distances, so they are ideal for maximizing the amount of work done in the shortest time. By employing a constantly varied approach to training, functional movements and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

What is East Chestnut?

East Chestnut Fitness (ECF) is a small group training gym located inside the Oscar Lasko YMCA. We offer small classes for all levels and all ages six days a week. We combine mobility and flexibility with strength and conditioning exercises to help you move better, get stronger, feel more confident! Whether you're using kettlebells, dumbbells, barbells or med balls, you're certain to burn calories and boost your metabolism at your intensity level. Do you have an injury holding you back? We'll work around that injury and modify any exercise to fit you! This is your workout! You only have one body, take care of it!

Your first class is FREE. We'll even let you try it for a week for FREE! Check it out...I think you will like it!

How much does the membership cost and how can I get started?

YGBW Members

  • $89/ month
  • $59/month (student discount)

Non-Members

  • $137/ month
  • $107/month (student discount)

If you decide East Chestnut Fitness is right for you, you can set up a one-on-one 60-minute personal training session with a coach. During this session, you'll learn how to perform the fundamental movements safely and efficiently. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle, as this session includes a workout. Contact  Wendy Young 610-643-9622, ext. 2803  to come in and try a free class.

Can anyone participate in East Chestnut Fitness?

YES! We have all ages, fitness levels, shapes and sizes in the same class. Our participants are supportive and friendly. We even plan and attend meet-ups together outside of class. 

The workouts and specific movements can be modified, scaled and tailored to each individual, enabling everyone to participants in the same class together.

What do I get as an East Chestnut member?

  • Unlimited classes in our air-conditioned gym. 
     
  • Unlimited usage of ECF space when Oscar Lasko YMCA is open and classes are not running.
     
  • If you are a YGBW member, you may visit any of our YMCA branches, as well as most YMCAs across the U.S. This gives you access to our fitness centers which are stocked with tons of cardio and strength equipment, unlimited group exercise classes, access to many of our indoor pools and more.
     
  • Lockers and showers are available.
     
  • Member discounts on YMCA programs such as swimming lessons, childcare, arts, environmental education, sports leagues and more.

Where can I find the schedule of classes?

Classes are available Monday - Saturday at various times throughout the day.

Pre-Teen/Teen Strength and Conditioning at East Chestnut Fitness

Teen Fit is a strength and conditioning program designed for athletes and non-athletes ages 14-18. The program combines age-appropriate weight lifting with high-intensity interval training to deliver top fitness and performance, while increasing agility, mobility and flexibility.
