Ways to Save on your YMCA Membership

The YMCA is a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community. We serve people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and incomes.

Our fundraising efforts help us to provide financial assistance and income-based membership to ensure that YMCA memberships and/or programs are available for all individuals and families in our community.

7th Grade Initiative

Through the YMCA seventh grade initiative, graduating 6th grade and current 7th-grade students across Chester County are invited to sign up for a free membership. To get started, bring a school ID, roster or report card and a parent or guardian to any YMCA branch.

Enjoy use of the YMCA indoor facilities and attend teen programming including classes, events and programs.

Why the 7th Grade Initiative Matters

The YMCA knows that as kids face adolescence’s challenges, they are more likely to begin distancing themselves from formal organizations, friends and family and to experiment with unhealthy behaviors. The 7th Grade Initiative offers an alternative where they can make new friends, discover their passions and develop a healthy lifestyle. We believe it's crucial to set the foundation for a healthy lifestyle at a young age.

Kids at this age are discovering who they are, and we want to ensure that they’re set up for future success through an active lifestyle.

Support for the 7th Grade Initiative is raised through the YMCA's Chester County Corporate Championship Benefit Golf Tournament.

Active Duty Military

In partnership with the Armed Services YMCA and the Department of Defense, we are proud to offer memberships to eligible military families and personnel. To receive membership benefits from the YMCA Military Outreach Initiative, eligible military families and personnel should follow these steps:

  • Contact Military OneSource at www.MilitaryOneSource.com or 800-342-9647 to confirm eligibility and receive an eligibility form.

  • Visit your local YMCA of Greater Brandywine branch and speak to a Membership Director.

  • Complete and bring your eligibility form, Military ID and any other required documentation (generally your Deployment Orders or Military Services Headquarters approval letter) to your YMCA for verification.

College Student Memberships

Students interested in a YMCA membership during their semester or term breaks are invited to purchase a temporary college student membership at a reduced rate. Membership options include a winter break membership (30 days for $40) and a summer break membership (3 months for $120).

Bring your student ID and a copy of your most recent class schedule to your local YMCA branch to get started.

Eligible seniors can work out in our fitness centers, join in hundreds of group exercise classes—some of which are specifically designed to meet the health needs of seniors, enjoy educational and social programs, connect with others and much more.
