Why Montessori?

The Montessori method of education values the human spirit and the development of the whole child — physical, social, emotional and cognitive. In our mixed-age classrooms, children experience interactive learning in an environment carefully prepared by an educator who is sensitive to each child’s individual needs and abilities.

Children choose their activities, and discover language, mathematics, science, art and music, using materials developed by Dr. Maria Montessori and supplemented with additional resources. This educational environment fosters respect, cooperation, order and choice within limits. The school’s peaceful and non-competitive atmosphere also promotes strong character and values.

All lead teachers in our program are Montessori-credentialed.

Can you identify your first memory?

Many of us don’t consciously remember much, if anything, before age three, but remarkably, the first five years of life can form the foundation of who you are for the rest of your life. A study from the University of Washington suggests that by the time children head off to kindergarten, their self-esteem is significantly developed and much like that of an adult.
