The health and safety of our community is of the utmost importance. We follow a combination of CDC, state, county and Department of Human Services guidelines in our facilities and programs. As CDC recommendations change, we will continue to work with the Chester County Health Department to identify how these national guidelines should be applied to our community.

Health & Safety Guidelines

In light of COVID-19, we’ve made numerous modifications to our facilities, implemented new protocols and procedures, and retrained staff in the latest cleaning and disinfecting procedures to create the safest environment possible.

Below you will find our latest guidelines all need to follow, as well as detailed information on each area of our facility. Failure to comply is not an option. We need everyone to work together to ensure a socially responsible environment that aligns with our Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

  • COVID Prevention - To create the safest environment possible, please do not enter our facility if you have a temperature higher than 100.3° and/or answer YES to any of the questions below:

    • Have you had a fever or taken fever-reducing medicine in the last 24 hours?

    • Have you experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms within the last 24 hours (to include loss of taste/smell, cough, sore throat, respiratory illness, difficulty breathing or vomiting/diarrhea)?

    • Have you or anyone in your household had close contact with anyone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days? (If you show two or more of the  following symptoms, please do not enter our facility: fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste and/smell, body aches or nausea.)

  • Masks - Updated policy as of 8/30/21

    • All non-vaccinated members and guests are required to wear masks, including all children ages 2 – 12, while inside YMCA facilities. Masks are not required for outdoor activities at this time.

    • All vaccinated members are strongly encouraged to wear masks while inside YMCA facilities.

    • All are required to wear masks while in childcare and Child Watch drop off and pick up areas.

    • YMCA staff will wear masks while inside YMCA facilities, regardless of their vaccination status. Vaccinated staff leading group exercise classes may remove their masks while teaching and swim instructors will wear face shields while in the pool.

      Policy as of 8/9/21
    • All YMCA staff will wear masks while inside the YMCA facilities, regardless of their vaccination status. Staff leading group exercise classes, teaching aquatics classes or programs and participating in outdoor activities can remove their masks while participating in these activities.
    • All members and guests visiting the YMCA are strongly encouraged to wear masks - especially while navigating shared, common spaces.
    • Based on guidelines from the Center for Disease Control, the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and OCDEL for licensed child care programs, our mask policy encourages that children ages two and over wear masks.
