Update: Wearing Masks at the YMCA - As you may have seen, Governor Tom Wolf announced a new order regarding the wearing of masks on Wednesday, July 1. We are currently working to obtain additional information as to the specific details of this order. As soon as we have this clarity, we will let you know if any changes are needed to the procedures we have already implemented in regards to wearing masks at the YMCA.

Branch Hours

Branch Hours

Our hours are reduced to allow for additional cleaning and disinfection. There will also be brief rolling closures of areas throughout the day for cleaning. 

  • Monday-Thursday:6 am to 8 pm 

  • Friday: 6 am to 7 pm 

  • Saturday-Sunday: 7 am to 3 pm 
     

NOTE: The Oscar Lasko YMCA (OLY) is CLOSED for fitness, and only open for camp and childcare at this time. OLY Members may use any other YGBW branch. If your membership is for OLY only, you can use the West Chester Area YMCA until OLY reopens for fitness.  

Special Hours

    Special hours for those at high-risk for COVID-19: If you are in a high-risk category for COVID-19 and would prefer to visit at a time when there are fewer people in the facility, we invite you to come on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 pm.

    Additional cleaning and disinfection will be completed immediately prior to these times.

     

    New Health & Safety Guidelines 

    In light of COVID-19, our team has been preparing around the clock to welcome you back safely. We’ve made numerous modifications to our facilities, implemented new protocols and procedures, and retrained staff in the latest cleaning and disinfecting procedures. Learn more about these new procedures and protocols. 

    Below you will find new guidelines all need to follow, as well as detailed information on each area of our facility. Failure to comply is not an option. We need everyone to work together to ensure a socially responsible environment that aligns with our Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. 

    • COVID Prevention - All staff, members and visitors will review several health screening questions prior to entering the facility and will be temperature-screened. Anyone showing signs of COVID-19 or who has a temperature of 100.4 or higher, will not be permitted to enter for the safety of all members.
       

    • Guest/Trial Passes - No guest or trial passes will be accepted at this time, nor can we allow anyone other than YMCA of Greater Brandywine members to enter our branches for the time being. Nationwide reciprocity has been suspended for now. 
       

    • Traffic Flow - Single entry and exit points will be available at the main entrance and we are practicing social distancing. Please follow the directional signage. 
       

    • Contactless Scanning - Contactless scanning is available. You can scan in using your key card or the YGBW Mobile App. Plexi-glass shields have been placed at our front desk so you can easily talk with staff and remain safe. 
       

    • Masks - Masks are required in common areas but can be removed while exercising. Governor Tom Wolf announced a new order regarding the wearing of masks on 7/1/20. We are obtaining additional clarity and will let you know if any changes are needed to the procedures we have already implemented.

    • Group Exercise - Limited group exercise classes will be available. More classes are being added regularly. Check our website for the latest schedule. Class sizes are being limited to allow for social distancing. Reservations via the YGBW mobile app are required. Your membership will need to be active to log in to the app and make reservations. You can reactivate your membership herePlease bring your own mat, as we are not able to safely provide them at this time. Remember that virtual group exercise classes will also continue.
       

    • Water Fountains - Bring your own water bottle as bottle fillers will be available, but water fountains will not. 
       

    • Equipment - All must wipe down equipment before and after use using the disinfectant solution we provide. NO EXCEPTIONS! 
       

    • Locker Rooms - Locker rooms are available for indoor pool lap swimmers only. If you are only working out and not doing lap swimming in our indoor pool, please come dressed to work out.   
       

    • Member Code of Conduct - An updated Member Code of Conduct is in place to ensure we all work together to protect one another's health and safety.
       

    • Hand Sanitizing Stations – Additional stations are available throughout our branches.

    • There is a 45-minute usage limit on cardio and weight equipment.

    • Reservations are required through the YGBW app. Your membership must be active to log into the app and make a reservation. Reactivate your membership.

    • Class sizes are limited to ensure social distancing can be practiced. Be sure to select a dot and maintain a distance of six feet from others.

    • Masks are not required while exercising, but are required before and after class and when in common areas.

    • Bring a water bottle, as bottle fillers are available. Water fountains are not.

    • Bring your own mat, as mats will not be provided at this time.

    Indoor Tracks

    • Social distancing is being practiced. Maintain a distance of six feet from all others.

    • Keep three social distancing dots, that will be spaced out on the track floor, between you and those running. Keep two social distancing dots between you and others that are walking.

    • Bring a water bottle, as bottle fillers are available. Water fountains are not.

    Outdoor Pools

    Open at Jennersville YMCA, Upper Main Line YMCA (50m pool) and West Chester Area YMCA.

    • Outdoor pool membership required. 

    • Social Distancing is being practiced.

    • Masks are not required in the water, but strongly encouraged when walking around the pool complex.

    • Chairs are not provided.

    • Guest passes are not available.

    • Snack bars are not open.

    • Slides are not open at this time.

    Indoor Lap Pools

    Now Open

    • Rinse off in the locker room shower before entering the pool deck.

    • Bring your own equipment (Kickboard, hand paddles, towel, goggles, swim cap, etc.) 

    • Each indoor lap lane can have a maximum of three swimmers (circle swimming),

    • Swimmers should break at opposite ends of the pool.

    • If you need a prolonged break, please exit the pool.

    • Limit swim time to an hour to allow as many members as possible to use the pool.

    • Locker rooms will be open to indoor lap swimmers only.

    Locker Rooms

    Open for indoor pool lap swimmers only.

    • Social distancing is being practiced.

    • Only use lockers with dots on them.

    • Give space to one another and wait to go to your locker if someone is close by.

    • Do not use the locker right next to anyone else. If someone's locker does end up being right next to yours, wait until they are done before going to your locker. 

    Summer Camp

    Available at all YGBW branches except the Octorara YMCA Program Center. (We plan to reopen Octorara in the fall.)

    Youth Soccer Leagues

    Begins week of 9/7 for kids ages 4-9. Register by 8/31.

    • Coaches will wear masks
    • Defensive and offensive plays will not cross the mid-field line to avoid “bunch ball”
    • All coaches, players and teams will bring their own water and snacks
    • Shaking hands, fist bumps and high fives are not permitted
    • There will be 45 minutes in between each game to allow for thorough cleaning and disinfection
    • Spectators will practice social distancing.
    • All games will be played at your home YMCA branch. There will not be any traveling.

    Childcare & Early Learning Centers

    Available at all YGBW branches except the Octorara YMCA Program Center (We plan to reopen the Octorara YMCA in the fall.)

    Tennis (Upper Main Line YMCA)

     

    Child Watch
