Coming Together on the Courts
Pickleball. The popular sport with a funny name has taken the country by storm and Y members by heart. The YMCA is all about inclusivity and community - and so is pickleball. This sport appeals to people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, making it naturally inclusive. And the social component is just as strong as the fitness component, making pickleball a sport that keeps players coming back for more fun - and more friends!
Whether you are already captivated by all things pickleball or are just getting started, we've got you covered! Below are our top ways to learn more about pickleball this winter.
- Watch our Members Tell 6abc Why They Love Pickleball
Last month, a news crew from 6abc joined some of our dedicated pickleball players at the Upper Main Line YMCA to find out why they love the sport so much. Watch the 6abc segment to hear about pickleball directly from our Director of Pickleball, Tim Irwin, and dedicated members Linda and Jim Brobson, John Anderson and Fred Witzeling.
- Learn from our Pickleball Pros
Intro Level
Each week, our Pickleball Pros host introductory clinics that are free for members and only $25 for non-members. If you're just beginning your journey into the world of pickleball, this is the best starting point. In this one-time class, you'll learn about terminology, basic rules of play, equipment and court etiquette. Anyone age 12 or older is welcome to register.
Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Levels
If you already know the basics of the game, you are ready for one of our more advanced clinics. Each clinic focuses on strategy and skill development - based upon your level of play: Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. These clinics are taught by our Pickleball Pros and cost $30 for members and $45 for non-members. Browse our listing of clinics to find the one that matches your level.
