Activities for Members in the Snow

We're here to provide our community with as much as we can.
So, our YGBW team put together these fun family programs, located at our Upper Main Line YMCA, just for our members! 

There is no cost to attend these activities but you must register in advance and have an active (not suspended or on hold) YMCA of Greater Brandywine.

Animal Snow Tracks 

  • Saturday, 12/19, 10:00 - 11:00 AM 
    • Join birder and naturalist Michelle for a hike through the UMLY’s Cassatt Preserve following fresh animal tracks in the snow. Meet outside the Carriage house. Pre-registration required.
    • Max: 12 people

Winter Solstice Stargazer Hike

  • Monday, 12/21, 5:30 - 6:30 PM
    • Join us for a viewing of the “great conjunction” of Jupiter and Saturn to form the “Christmas Star”. We will also explore the winter evening landscape at UMLY’s Cassatt Preserve. Meet outside the Carriage house. Pre-registration required.

Christmas Bird Count

  • Saturday, 12/26, 8:30 - 10:00 AM
    • Become a citizen scientist!!! Join birder and naturalist Brian “BQ” Quindlen for a bird walk to count birds for the Audubon Christmas Bird Count. People will be counting birds all over North America to give scientists a snapshot of birds all over the country!  Meet outside the Carriage house. Pre-registration required.
    • Max: 12 people

Owl Prowl

  • Join birder and naturalist Michelle for a hike through the Cassatt Preserve in search of owls. This event includes a take home owl pellet kit. Meet outside the Carriage house. Pre-registration required.
