Todd Conrad Honored as 2025 Coach of the Meet After Leading Team UMLY of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine to Record-Breaking Nationals

Conrad’s recognition follows a national team title, multiple individual wins, and a top-three overall finish at the 2025 YMCA Swimming National Championships
(BERWYN, PA) – Following a record-breaking performance at the 2025 YMCA Swimming National Championships, Todd Conrad, Head Coach of Upper Main Line YMCA (UMLY) Swim Team and Associate Executive Director of UMLY, was named 2025 Coach of the Meet at the YMCA National Long Course Swimming Championship in Ocala, Florida. The award is voted on annually by fellow coaches and is based on overall team performance at the event.
Under the leadership of Conrad and Competitive Aquatics Director, Owen Edwards, Team UMLY delivered one of the strongest performances in program history. The Women’s Team captured the national title for the first time in 31 years. Ellie McNamara earned individual national championships in both the 400- and 1500-meter freestyle and led off the 800 freestyle relay team, alongside Keilani Silva, Paige Fisher and Whitney Kane, to another national win. Sebastian Tith also earned an individual national championship in the 100-meter breaststroke, marking the first time in program history that Team UMLY celebrated both a male and female national champion on the same day. The combined team finished third overall in the nation.
“Todd and Owen continue to set a high standard for our entire association, with a leadership style that reflects care, commitment, and dedication,” said Bertram L. Lawson II, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine. “Being named Coach of the Meet is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the respect Todd has earned among his peers nationwide. We are proud of him, Owen, and Team UMLY for giving their very best during the 2025 National Swim Meet.”
Conrad has more than 25 years of coaching experience and is known for building a culture rooted in discipline, teamwork and individual growth. Conrad and Edwards joined the YMCA of Greater Brandywine in 2020 and 2016, respectively, and have helped position Team UMLY as one of the strongest swim programs in the country.
At the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, swimming is more than a sport—it’s a lifelong skill and a pathway to growth. From our earliest swim lessons that teach essential water safety and confidence, to advanced training through our competitive swim teams, we help children and teens build strength, discipline, and resilience both in and out of the pool. Along the way, they gain more than swimming skills—they develop leadership, teamwork, and character that carry into every aspect of life. For many, the journey begins with learning to float and ends with leading a lane, mentoring younger swimmers, or even coaching the next generation.
