Supporting Teens at the Y
If you’re raising a teen, you may wonder how you can guide them while giving them their independance. The YMCA is known for youth development and provides help to support Chester County families. Here are a few tools to help support you and your teens: Help them find a greater purpose with a career at the Y, guide them through sports and teach them about sportsmanship and educate teens on healthy weight and health risks. Find out more about how your children can participate (at any age) at the YMCA of Greater Brandywine.

Teens & Mental Health
Mental Health starts with your thoughts - which affect how you feel and ultimately how you act. It also impacts your relationship with others and your physical health too. Discover the importance of social connection in your community or learn more below about mental health resources.

If you’re raising a teen, you may wonder how to support their independence as they grow, while also providing guidance to keep them safe. While teens may have a strong opinion that they are ready to be fully independent, the truth is that older youth continue to need guidance and supervision to develop healthfully.

Through Y Achievers, participants gain a strong sense of self, elevate their academic performance, build character and develop cultural competence. They are also exposed to diverse career opportunities, engage in meaningful community service and participate in hands-on learning experiences.
This education-focused mentoring program is designed to holistically nurture and empower youth in grades 5th–8th to reach their fullest potential.
We are excited to launch the Y Achievers program at our Coatesville and Jennersville branches and are excited to see the growth among our Chester County teens with this program.
