Through the YMCA's Youth & Government Program, students develop critical thinking and leadership skills, give back to their community through service projects and have fun as they discuss and debate issues that affect citizens, propose possible legislation to make government more efficient and craft their own bills.

What is Youth & Government?

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine’s Youth & Government Program helps young people in grades 6 - 12 to develop into strong citizens who are both knowledgeable and active in determining the future of our democracy. During the program, students discuss and debate issues that affect citizens, propose possible legislation to make government more efficient and craft their own bills.

Participants will also build leadership skills, develop critical thinking and get the opportunity to meet their service hours by completing community service projects with a fun and engaged group of peers.

Students will have the option of attending the Model Conference in the spring and serve as club leaders.
