78,000 Hours of Service
Volunteerism is deeply rooted in the history of the YMCA - and today our volunteer power is still going strong. Across the nation, more than 230,000 people choose to give their time to strengthen the foundations of their communities.
Here at YGBW, we are blown away that more than 4,700 volunteers supported our mission in 2023 - giving more than 78,000 hours of service to their communities.
Y volunteers make in impact in many ways - coaching sports leagues, helping behind the scenes at our theater productions, welcoming new players to our pickleball courts, keeping our grounds and facilities clean and in good working order, planning ForeverWell events for seniors, serving on a board or committee - and so much more!
We Love Volunteers!
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month. We look forward to celebrating our Volunteer of the Year award recipients - and all of our volunteers at the Breakfast of Champions on April 25. And, that's not all! We host volunteer appreciation events every quarter to show our thanks - pool parties, theater productions, nature walks and more.
Below are just a few of the reasons why we appreciate our volunteers.
- Volunteers are a catalyst for positive change.
- Volunteers represent the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Volunteers are the heart of our Y’s and the heart of our communities.
- Volunteers enable us to fulfill our mission.
