YMCA Summer Camp … Making a Difference
Eight-year-old Colby suffers from a variety of ailments due to his ROHHAD Syndrome. Despite having this life-threatening disease, Colby relishes life and looks forward to YMCA summer camp every year.
His mother, Janka says “Colby still receives tons of therapies at DuPont Hospital in Wilmington to make him feel better and to keep him moving,” says Janka, “but he never gives up. We could not have come this far without the Y and the support from the kind donors who support the YMCA of Greater Brandywine.”
Summer camp at the Y gives many children, like Colby, the opportunity to enjoy their summer like other kids, without every day worries. They get to swim and play games, develop confidence, learn teamwork and make new friends and lasting memories. These kids would not be able to attend camp without the financial assistance granted by the YMCA.
YMCA summer camp has just begun but there are still many kids that would benefit from a summer of camp, but cannot afford it. Can you help?
