A Nationwide Challenge

“Over the past few years, it has been challenging to recruit childcare staff,” explains Loraine DiSciullo, Senior Director of Early Childhood Development at YGBW. “Our challenge is not unique, unfortunately. Schools and childcare facilities across the nation face a similar situation.”

The topic of childcare continues to make headlines as families struggle with high costs and limited availability and providers struggle to keep pace with rising expenses and challenges with staffing. To incentivize qualified candidates, YGBW is offering a variety of sign-on bonuses to candidates who are hired for select childcare roles by March 31, 2023.

Numerous Employee Benefits

“To show our commitment to attracting talented and dedicated childcare professionals, we’re offering hiring bonuses to eligible candidates who join our team by March 31,” continues DiSciullo. Bonuses vary based upon the position and the number of hours worked per week with the largest bonus being $5,000. In addition to sign-on bonuses,

YGBW offers a variety of employment benefits including:

  • Free YGBW Family Membership that includes access to outdoor pools for both part-time and full-time employees
  • Tuition reimbursement of up to $1,500 per year for employees who work more than 20 hours per week
  • Discounted Rates on
    • Summer Camp - 75% for full-time employees and 25% for part-time employees
    • Programs – 50% for full-time employees and 25% for part-time employees

More Than Just a Job

“Candidates who join the YMCA feel good knowing they are making a huge difference in the community each day,” shares Claudia Aust, Senior Director of Before and After School Enrichment. “Our team has a direct impact on the development of children – fostering the development of their self-esteem, social skills, academic skills and so much more.”

“We enable parents to hold jobs that put food on the table each night – jobs that keep local businesses in business. It’s safe to say that our team supports the child, the whole family and the larger community – all in a day’s work. A job with our team is certainly more than just a job.”

Hiring Open Houses are designed to fast-track candidates through the hiring process and take place at YMCA locations across Chester County between March 1 and March 21.

Interested candidates are invited to register for a Hiring Open House and apply for open positions. Those attending Hiring Open Houses should be prepared to participate in on-the-spot interviews and speak to their prior experience in a childcare setting.

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine is an equal opportunity employer.
