The Upper Main Line YMCA United's 7.0 18 and older mixed doubles tennis team saw an end to their first season on June 6, 2021. The team consists of seven men and ten women - all members at UMLY - had an outstanding first season. They won their winter league and went on to win their district championships and to quality and compete at the Middle States Sectional Championships.

“This has been a total team effort,” said Chris (Powell), who captains the team as a united trio with, Quang (Nguyen) and Kathy (Steinway).

“From the very first practice, every member bought into the idea that we would practice together, develop pairs together, but also be flexible to help out in any way to see the team progress.” “One thing that’s always impressed me, and runs throughout our teams,” continues Quang. “Is that when a pair needs to practice, all the team put their hands up to be practice partners.”

“When I think of all those crucial moments in matches,” concludes Kathy. “Everyone has been in those moments, and everyone has delivered. This might be the end for this season, but the team is already fired up for next year!"

Whether you are a skilled player or just picking up a racquet for the first time – at any age - there is something for everyone at the UMLY tennis program.
