Summer Swimming Camps at the YMCA

Kids cool off at the Brandywine YMCA outdoor pool at summer camp.

Summer and swimming go together like peanut butter and jelly, which is why nearly all of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine summer camps have a daily period of recreational swimming or swim lessons (Camp UMLY), weather permitting.

Trained lifeguards conduct swim tests for all campers prior to swimming each week to ensure the safety of all children. Campers receive a colored band signifying their level of swimming competency. Whenever the pools are open, there are lifeguards on duty, as well as counselors keeping an extra eye on the campers.

Those attending camp at the Y have an opportunity to register for swim lessons during camp or after camp time, depending on your location. Read more about YMCA swimming lessons.

If your child cannot get enough of the pool, our aquatic camps are perfect! Try our:

  • Aquatic Adventure Camp – campers are immersed in aquatic activities, games and challenges throughout the week. Camper MUST be able to pass the YMCA green band test.

  • Jr. Lifeguard Camp – a camp that provides a solid foundation for becoming a lifeguard. Campers learn about aquatic safety and lifesaving skills while being mentored by experienced aquatic staff. Campers MUST be able to pass the YMCA green band test.
