Summer Camp Adventures - A Typical Day at Camp

February 20, 2024
Every day at summer camp is an adventure! At the eight branches of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, traditional, sports, teen, adaptive (for those with disabilities) and specialty camps are offered. While each camp day varies depending on the branch and camp you chose, below is an idea of what a typical camper's day can be like.
- BEFORE CAMP CARE
Drop off as early as 7 AM. Before Camp Time is $25/week/camper (you must register in advance for Spark AM Care)
- OPENING CEREMONY
Each morning we meet with our counselors and do our morning chant to get excited for the day ahead!
- ICEBREAKERS
Each week we start our camp with "Getting to Know" you activities as your camper will meet new friends every week.
- RECREATIONAL SWIM
All of our camps offer recreational swim throughout the week. Campers will participant in a swim test during their first encounter with the pool to ensure we understand your campers' swim ability.
- ARTS & CRAFTS
We get messy with different mediums and showcase our masterpieces!
- LUNCH
Mornings are so busy that we can’t help but build up an appetite. Always remember to bring a lunch. We are a nut-free camp!
- SCIENCE & NATURE PROGRAMS
From hiking to nature walks and more, we have a blast outdoors! We spend A LOT of time outdoors so please send your camper with a refillable water bottle with their name on it. Don't forget the sunscreen!
- WEEKLY THEME ACTIVITY
Every week features a different theme that engages us and keeps us motivated all summer. There are themes like Disney Week, Jurassic Adventure Luau Week, Halloween Week and more. Color wars will be a surprise for 2025!
- GAMES
We often play board games and group games such as water balloon tosses.
- SPORTS
Our counselors teach us sports skills and the importance of teamwork.
- CLOSING CEREMONY
We round out our day with our closing ceremony and many of us then head to After Camp Care!
- AFTER CAMP CARE
Activities continue after camp during after camp care, previously called Spark Time. There is no additional cost for after camp care!
