In recognition of American Heart month, we caught up with our partners at Elite Therapy Solutions to offer tips about heart health.
Did You Know?
Heart Disease is one of the leading causes of death in our country. While that sounds intimidating, the good news is that your habits can help reduce your risk! Consistent exercise, a healthy diet and stress management are important ways to improve heart health.
Monitor Your Heart Health
- A healthy resting heart rate is 60-100 bpm. The lower the better!
- Maintain a healthy weight, working with your medical provider to learn what's right for you.
- Check blood pressure regularly and speak with your healthcare provider for an ideal reading for you.
- Grip strength matters! Strong grip is associated with a healthier heart and with decreased blood pressure.
- Physical therapists can help you safely navigate the question marks of exercise and a healthy lifestyle. They can assess your grip strength and provide appropriate exercises to improve it!
- As always, consult your doctor before making any changes to your routine.
