“A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.” -Amelia Earhart

Sometimes the smallest act can snowball, spreading kindness far beyond the original recipient. During this time of isolation, many people are feeling alone, anxious or scared. We’ve compiled a list of simple – and socially distanced – actions to help you be a spark of kindness in your community.

  1. Leave a Colorful Message

Spread joy to your family and friends with this zero-contact activity. Grab some sidewalk chalk to bring with you on your next family walk or drive to a relative's house to leave a message to brighten their day.

Don't have sidewalk chalk? Try this simple activity to make your own sidewalk chalk from supplies in your pantry!

  2. Create Kindness Rocks

Join the kindness rocks project and promote random acts of kindness in your community. This project involves decorating rocks with colorful designs and uplifting messages and leaving them tucked in high traffic areas to spread little bits of joy to others throughout their day.

  3. Signs of Hope & Thanks

Join Laura and Maya as they walk you through making a yard sign. Write messages of joy, hope or thanks and display it in your yard or window.

  4. Hang a Rainbow in Your Window

People across the globe are putting rainbows in their windows as a show of solidarity. Have fun with paints, markers, cut paper, crayons or ribbon and make your own rainbow window.

Here’s a list of creative rainbow art projects to get you started.

  5. Give - Your Time, Your Resources, Your Talents

A wide range of research has linked different forms of generosity to better health, even among the sick and elderly.

There are numerous ways that you can give during this time of crisis.
