What is physical therapy?

Physical Therapy is the treatment to improve mobility, relieve pain, restore physical function, and address disease or deformity. Treatment methods include a combination of manual therapy, exercise, and equipment-based techniques.

What does a typical course of treatment involve?

  • An initial evaluation which allows the therapist to identify what issue(s) are present and develop an individualized treatment plan intended to relieve pain or discomfort while restoring/repairing the root cause of the issue.

  • Each visit will build off the progress of the last. The therapist will safely advance the patient forward based on their physical ability and improvement, as well as gauge pain tolerance levels. During this time, it is incredibly important for the patient and therapist to maintain clear communications regarding the patient’s progress. Additionally, commitment and adherence to the treatment plan will affect the outcome of treatment. This includes, but does not limit to scheduled attendance and abiding by the assigned Home Exercise Plan (HEP).

  • Once the patient has completed a course of therapy, they are discharged from their case of treatment. However, it is advised and common in ETS practice to schedule out a cadence of follow-up visits for futuristic maintenance and identification of any other issues that may occur.

The frequency and duration of a course of treatment varies from patient to patient. This is assessed and communicated during the initial evaluation.

What's the cost of physical therapy?

The cost of physical therapy is dependent upon payor identification (self-pay or insurance) and treatment. Elite is in network with most major insurance payors. We verify all patient insurance and go over expected costs prior to treatment as a courtesy

What's the difference between Physical Therapy and Personal Training?

In this environment where there is crossover between Physical Therapists and Personal Trainers, there is benefit to the client/patient having access to both movement specialties.

Physical Therapy intervention is reparative and rehabilitative through full body assessment, diagnosis of medical issue(s), following a course of treatment, and identifying risk factors for future issues.

Personal Training programming allows clientele to work with a trainer to identify their fitness goals and formulate a plan that is safe, effective, and customized to the client’s individual needs.

By design, the relationship between these two specialties is intended to flow back and forth; the physical therapist restoring a patient to return to or begin anew their fitness lifestyle routine, and the personal trainer identifying clientele who are candidates for physical therapy intervention.

The goal of Physical Therapists is to return the patient to the activities they love and the quality of life they deserve.
