(WEST CHESTER, PA) — Beginning this fall, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) will expand its Before and After School Enrichment (BASE) program to include Honey Brook Elementary School to provide families in the Twin Valley School District with safe, engaging and reliable childcare before and after the school day. The expansion adds to YGBW’s network of BASE programs currently serving families in the Avon Grove, Great Valley, Kennett, Octorara, Oxford Area and Unionville-Chadds Ford school districts.

BASE programming serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade and combines academic support, social development and healthy activities. Children can participate in homework help, arts and crafts, games, weekly enrichment projects, STEM activities and social-emotional curriculum lessons. Morning care begins at 7 AM, and after-school care runs until 6 PM.

“Expanding BASE to include Honey Brook Elementary School represents our continued commitment to meeting and exceeding the needs of working families in Chester County,” said Claudia Aust, Senior Association Director of Licensed Childcare & BASE Programming for the YMCA of Greater Brandywine. “We know parents want their children in a safe and supportive environment that also fosters creativity, independence and confidence. BASE ensures that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive outside of regular school hours.”

YGBW’s BASE programs are licensed and meet Keystone STARS quality standards, ensuring families receive consistent, high-quality care. In addition to before- and after-school care, YGBW offers programming at YMCA branches on school closure dates, providing full-day childcare with enrichment activities to support families when school is not in session.

Families interested in enrolling at Honey Brook Elementary can contact the Coatesville YMCA, which oversees BASE programs in the Twin Valley School District. Registration opportunities are on a first-come, first-served basis, with limited spots remaining for the 2025–26 school year. Financial Assistance is available.
