Mobile Fit Truk and EmpowerU lead inclusive workouts for young adults with disabilities

(WEST CHESTER, PA) – Yesterday, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW) partnered with Bournelyf Special Camp, EmpowerU Specialty Fitness and Bentley Systems to deliver an afternoon of adaptive fitness programming for children and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event, held at Bournelyf’s West Chester campus, featured inclusive workouts led by certified personal trainers from EmpowerU Specialty Fitness and the Y, using YGBW’s mobile fitness facility, known as the Fit Truk.

The Fit Truk is a fully outfitted mobile gym that includes strength and cardio equipment such as squat racks, rowing machines and dumbbells. Designed to meet individuals where they are, the Fit Truk travels throughout Chester County, delivering wellness programming directly to individuals and organizations.

“Our mission is to ensure every person, regardless of age, ability, or background, has access to health and wellness resources,” said Bertram L. Lawson II, President and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine. “The Fit Truk allows us to take that mission on the road and meet people where they are. Events like today at Bournelyf, which was sponsored by Bentley Systems, are a powerful example of how we are expanding access and building partnerships that make our communities stronger.”

Today’s partnership reflects YGBW’s ongoing commitment to removing barriers and creating inclusive spaces where all individuals can thrive through physical activity, social connection and community support.
