Wellness Center Upgrades

Wellness Center Upgrades - Coming Soon

It's no secret that we love to see members in our branches - spending time with loved ones, learning a new skill in one of our classes or working toward fitness goals in our Wellness Centers. To encourage you to keep coming back to visit us here at the Y, we're excited to announce that changes are coming soon to our Wellness Centers.

Over the next few weeks, the Wellness Centers at each of our branches will be revamped to ensure that we have the fitness equipment that our members most often want to use. To make the upgrades, each of our Wellness Centers will close briefly - in most cases for just one day. We've staggered these closures so that you can visit the Wellness Center at a neighboring YMCA while your local Wellness Center is being upgraded.

Why is the fitness equipment in the Wellness Center changing?
To make sure that our offerings match member interest and goals, we recently collected member feedback and monitored equipment usage in our Wellness Centers. We learned that we need to make some changes to ensure a positive member experience.

What equipment is changing?
After our Wellness Center upgrades are complete, each branch will have an expanded selection of strength equipment, in addition to a revised layout to existing cardio equipment. While strength equipment additions will vary slightly based upon the needs of each branch, you can expect to see more benches, cable crossovers and squat racks.

When will the Wellness Center be closed at my home branch?
Wellness Center closures at YMCAs across Chester County will be staggered to minimize the disruption to your daily routine. Upcoming closures are listed below. Unless otherwise noted, expect that your branch's Wellness Center will be closed for one day only.

  • Kennett Area YMCA - Wednesday, March 22
  • Brandywine YMCA - Friday, March 10
  • Lionville Community YMCA - Thursday, March 9
  • Oscar Lasko YMCA - Friday, February 24
  • Jennersville YMCA - Wednesday, February 22
  • West Chester Area YMCA - Friday, February 17
  • Upper Main Line YMCA - Thursday, February 16

What can I do while my Wellness Center is closed?
While the Wellness Center is closed, the rest of our facilities (e.g. indoor courts, indoor pools, etc.) will remain open. And you are always welcome to visit the Wellness Center at nearby locations. View our locations and hours.

Is there anything else I need to know?
On Thursday, February 16, we will permanently close the Power and Conditioning Floor at the Upper Main Line YMCA. This change will allow us to make the most efficient use of the space in our facility. We understand that this may be disappointing news - but we are confident that the new strength equipment coming to our Wellness Centers will meet your needs.

Be on the lookout for an email about Wellness Center closure dates near you. We can’t wait to welcome you into our upgraded Wellness Centers!
