Boost your Fitness Level with Strength Training

Strength training is a popular and trendy way to stay active. And for good reason. Adding two or three days of strength training into your fitness routine is good for your bones, muscles, metabolism and your mindset!
Support Strong Bones
You likely think of building muscle mass when you think about strength training. And that's true. But, strength training is also great for strengthening your bones.
Weight-bearing exercises - such as push-ups, presses, curls and more - engage your bones, which can stimulate the growth of healthy cells that strengthen your bones. This can improve bone density and reduce the effects of osteoporosis.
Build Strong Muscles
Did you know that when you participate in strength training, you place a healthy stress on your muscles, forcing them to push back or resist? This act of resisting makes your muscles bigger and stronger over time.
This is why strength training is also called resistance training. No matter the name, it's a good habit to get into. And anyone can do it.
The weight or resistance used should be tailored to your abilities. Barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, weight machines - or simply your own body weight are effective tools for building strong muscles.
Boost your Metabolism
Have you heard that strength training can help you burn fat while you sleep? That's because muscle mass burns more calories than fat tissues.
As you increase your muscle mass, your body will naturally begin to burn more calories - even at rest. You'll want to incorporate strength training into your regular fitness routine to see these results.
Strengthen your Mind
Don't you feel amazing after moving your body? The good feeling in your muscles also helps your mind, too!
Hormones such as endorphins and dopamine make our minds feel good. Engaging in a regular fitness routine that includes strength training increases the production of dopamine and endorphins - and leaves your mind feeling clear and strong.
Not to mention the boost in self-confidence you'll feel from trying something new - and seeing how strong you really are!
