Alyssa Ross, Youth Program Director, Brandywine YMCA
Alyssa joined the Brandywine YMCA in July of 2017 after a ten-year career at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee where she worked in school age child care and summer camp. “I love seeing how much the children grow over the summer,” she says, “as well as seeing them make new friends and have new experiences. I especially love when a child goes from red to green swimming band!”

Kirstan Dolinger, Senior Childcare Director, Jennersville YMCA
Kirstan started her Y career at the Jennersville YMCA in 2004 and has served in multiple roles including camp counselor, preschool coordinator, Early Childcare Learning Center Director and her current role as Senior Child Care Director. “I love that we create lifetime memories for our campers,” she says.

Emily Armington, Senior Director of Childcare, Kennett Area YMCA
Emily worked as a counselor at a residential summer camp in Upstate New York in 2007 and, in 2008, became Site Director for the next four years. In 2013, she was named Camp and Youth Director at the Kennett Area YMCA. Over the past five years, Emily has created new traditions at Y Camp and has built strong relationships with families involved in Camp, SACC and Montessori. “I love seeing the strong bonds that our campers form, she says, “and I also love watching the campers try to learn new things.”

Steph Bewley, Camp and Enrichment Director, Lionville Community YMCA
Steph began working at camp when she was a student at West Chester University. After graduating, she decided she wanted to come back to the Y and spent worked at a Y in New Jersey before joining the team at Lionville Community YMCA. “I love how camp brings kids from all backgrounds together and allows them to make new friends,” she says. “It's great to see campers learning and developing new skills over the course of the summer.”

Franchesca Short, Youth Development and Family Programs Director, Oscar Lasko YMCA and Childcare Center
Franchesca starting working at the Oscar Lasko YMCA while attending West Chester University and then transitioned into the Youth Director role. She is passionate about youth development and creating meaningful relationships within the community at the YMCA. “I love seeing the relationships built between the campers and staff,” she says “and watching friendships develop and seeing campers progress to yellow and green swim bands!

Shannon Kane, Advanced Director of Camp and Childcare, Upper Main Line YMCA
Shannon first found her love for the camp atmosphere while working for a residential camp after her college graduation. She worked in numerous roles for a national camp before joining the team as camp director at UMLY. Shannon leads a team of more than 100 staff members that serves nearly 1,200 campers and families. “I love seeing the children's self-confidence grow throughout the summer”, she says. “Children come in nervous and leave with new friends and newfound confidence. It’s amazing to see!”

Mark Hoy, Camp and Childcare Director, West Chester Area YMCA
Mark started his journey at the Y as an intern. During his internship he was asked to work at Camp Quoowant where he found a passion for camp. He continued working with YMCA summer camps as a counselor, coordinator, Sports Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director and Camp Director. “I love seeing campers grow from year to year and make new friends and connect with old friends each summer,” he says.
