Alyssa Ross, Youth Program Director, Brandywine YMCA
Alyssa joined the Brandywine YMCA in July of 2017 after a ten-year career at the YMCA of Middle Tennessee where she worked in school age child care and summer camp. “I love seeing how much the children grow over the summer,” she says, “as well as seeing them make new friends and have new experiences. I especially love when a child goes from red to green swimming band!”

Kirstan Dolinger, Senior Childcare Director, Jennersville YMCA
Kirstan started her Y career at the Jennersville YMCA in 2004 and has served in multiple roles including camp counselor, preschool coordinator, Early Childcare Learning Center Director and her current role as Senior Child Care Director. “I love that we create lifetime memories for our campers,” she says.

Katie Gadapee, SACC & Camp Director at Kennett Area YMCA
Katie has been involved in summer camp and childcare for 25 years. She has worked at non-profit camps for eight years, including two summers at the YMCA of Wakefield (R.I.). "I love to enhance programs that run well by adding pieces that make them even better," she says. "I enjoy meeting all of the children and their parents." Katie holds a bachelor’s degree from Lyndon State College and a master's degree from Capella University, where she is also pursuing her doctorate.

Steph Bewley, Camp and Enrichment Director, Lionville Community YMCA
Steph began working at camp when she was a student at West Chester University. After graduating, she decided she wanted to come back to the Y and spent worked at a Y in New Jersey before joining the team at Lionville Community YMCA. “I love how camp brings kids from all backgrounds together and allows them to make new friends,” she says. “It's great to see campers learning and developing new skills over the course of the summer.”

Janet Kabakjian, Camp Director, Octorara YMCA Program Center
Janet became a director at the Octorara YMCA Program center in 2001 and currently directs the summer camp program, as well as the preschool and school age childcare program. She loves every age in child development. “It has been a joy to spend a fun filled summer with a child, watch them grow into a young adult and then become a camp counselor giving back the fun and joy they experienced at Y camp.”

Shannon Kane, Advanced Director of Camp and Childcare, Upper Main Line YMCA
Shannon first found her love for the camp atmosphere while working for a residential camp after her college graduation. She worked in numerous roles for a national camp before joining the team as camp director at UMLY. Shannon leads a team of more than 100 staff members that serves nearly 1,200 campers and families. “I love seeing the children's self-confidence grow throughout the summer”, she says. “Children come in nervous and leave with new friends and newfound confidence. It’s amazing to see!”

Mark Hoy, Camp and Childcare Director, West Chester Area YMCA
Mark started his journey at the Y as an intern. During his internship he was asked to work at Camp Quoowant where he found a passion for camp. He continued working with YMCA summer camps as a counselor, coordinator, Sports Camp Director, Assistant Camp Director and Camp Director. “I love seeing campers grow from year to year and make new friends and connect with old friends each summer,” he says.
