Stay with Us

The Coronavirus weighs heavily on us all. Given the shutdown orders issued by Governor Tom Wolf for many Pennsylvania counties, including Chester County, all branches of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine are closed until further notice.

At the YMCA of Greater Brandywine, everything we do is guided by our mission of supporting and strengthening all, which has become even more critical now. The YMCA is a community and this situation has only proven again that our community is not defined by a physical building. It is defined by the many caring and generous people who make it up—you are one of those people.

Information about Memberships, Programs & Contributions

Membership Options

During this unprecedented time, one thing keeps rising to the surface for the YMCA—our mission to strengthen our community is more needed than ever. We respectfully ask for your support if you’re able during this time. Your donation will enable us to continue strengthening our community through numerous efforts including distributing food to those in need in our community, offering virtual group exercise classes and an Adventure Wellness Challenge, providing online family activities such as story time and ensuring the Y's long-term sustainability to continue strengthening our community.

If you have a YMCA Membership, there are two options available to you at this time:

  1. Stay with Us
Should you choose to keep your membership active, you do not need to do anything further. We will continue to draft your membership fee, which will become a tax-deductible donation. With the passage of the CARES Act, you will be able to deduct up to $300 in charitable donations on your 2020 taxes, even if you do not itemize.

  2. Pause Your Membership
We also certainly understand that you have financial obligations; and naturally, we will place your membership on hold at no cost during this time should you wish to do so. Complete this form to indicate that you’d like your membership placed on hold. We will continue drafting your membership fee unless you complete and submit this form. If your membership is currently on hold, we’ll extend your hold until further notice.

If you have additional questions about your membership, please reach out to our team at info@ymcagbw.org.

Donations

During this unprecedented time, one thing keeps rising to the surface for the YMCA—our mission to strengthen our community is more needed than ever. We’ve wasted no time in mobilizing—hosting blood drives to address a critical blood shortage, distributing food to those in need in our community, offering virtual group exercise classes and an Adventure Wellness Challenge, providing online family activities such as story time and much more.

But we need your help. Like many non-profits, we are facing significant financial stress. The majority of our funds for reinvestment come from membership fees, program fees and donations. With our doors closed, almost every aspect of our branch operations has come to a halt, severely limiting our ability to generate the financial resources needed to meet our commitments.

We respectfully ask for your support if you’re able during this time. Your donation will enable us to continue our efforts now, as well as ensure the Y's long-term sustainability to strengthen our community.

What We are Doing

Emergency Childcare

During the last two weeks of March, the YMCA provided emergency childcare to first-responders and healthcare workers in our county. However, few people have needed this. As such, we have temporarily suspended these services. We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely and should the need increase, we have every intention of providing emergency childcare again.

If you are in need of care, please complete this form.
