Rocket League Esports League (Virtual): Grades 5-8
Esports is a competitive video game experience that allows individuals the opportunity to compete as a team in a fun, safe environment. Participants will develop important skills that they can utilize to thrive in all areas of life, including communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills in an individual or team environment. Rocket League is a unique, high-octane arcade style game that combines elements of both racing games and soccer.
Participants compete in a 3 vs. 3 environment and attempt to use their rocket-powered vehicles to hit an oversized soccer ball into their opponent's goal and score points over the course of the match. Individuals will work alongside their teammates to develop strategies and perfect their moves in order to defeat their competition.
Each session will last 8 weeks, with participants meeting 2 times per week, 1 hour for practice and 1 hour for gameplay. Each practice will be led by a certified coach who will support participants in a wide variety of areas, including positive competition, team-building activities and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Esports is a virtual option for youth to stay connected, develop new friendships and learn important life skills from the comfort of their own home.
