6 Ways to Make the Most of Your YMCA Family Membership
Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
Trying a new group exercise class or jumping into the pool for the first time in many years can be intimidating – but trying new workouts keeps exercising fun and challenges your body in new ways. Browse our group exercise schedule, view lap swim times or open gym opportunities and explore some new equipment on the wellness floor. Our wellness team is available to provide suggestions for classes or show you how to properly use a piece of equipment.
Take Advantage of the Childcare Options
There are several family membership benefits and the most well-known is Childwatch (and Kids Zone). With these services, our certified staff care for your children while you work out or attend a program at the Y. Sitter Service is a newer option for families and provides parents the opportunity to run an errand, attend an appointment or enjoy time offsite while their kids are cared for at the Y. Sitter Service is $5 per child per hour. Services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis - call ahead or stop by the Member Services Desk to check availability.
The Y offers numerous other options like Saturday Night Lights and Parents’ Night Out that provide safe spaces for kids.
Maximize Your Time and Resources
Sign the kids up for a program at the Y and while they enjoy their ballet class or swim lesson, you can enjoy a workout or attend a group exercise class. Don’t forget that as a member you receive a discount on programs – including childcare and camp!
Get the Family Involved
There are many family-friendly events and activities at the Y. Attend a family fun night, holiday celebration or community event like Healthy Kids Day. Play a game together during open gym times or make a splash during open swim.
Enjoy our Reciprocity Agreement
Work near one Y, but live near another? All YMCAs in Pennsylvania and Delaware have a reciprocity agreement, which means you can visit any Y in PA or DE. You simply need to use your home for most of your visits.
