About the Program
STRIDE is a fun fitness and running program for boys in grades 3 through 8. Boys have the chance to share their thoughts and opinions about various life topics in a safe, encouraging environment that helps them develop character, while building their running endurance to complete a 5K.
Success + Teamwork + Respect + Inspiration + Determination = Excellence in Character
STRIDE was started in Chester County Pennsylvania in the Fall of 2010. STRIDE National was born out of demands for a boys running program to coincide with the very popular national girls program, Girls On The Run.
Teams & Program Registration
Registration can be done online or in person at a YMCA branch. Participants are able to register at any school within their district if their home school is not listed. Transportation is not provided.
Volunteers are at the heart of the success of the STRIDE program. Our volunteers are dynamic role models dedicated to leading boys to become healthy young men that exemplify strong character. Whether you have just a couple of hours a year, a season or a month to help our cause, we would love to hear from you. Volunteers can get involved as a coach, STRIDEr, race day volunteer, or serve on committees and advisory boards.
